Second Grade Girl Scouts stopped the show at the Talent Show!!

The Second Grade Girl Scouts performed Friday night at the Cannon's Got Talent show! They wore "bobble head" faces of some of their favorite teachers! It was definitely a fun night!  Other performers from second grade also showed some fabulous talent!

Porcupines -Texas Wildlife Association

We have been learning about animal adaptations and habitats of porcupines. We participated in an interactive Skype with Texas Wildlife Association to learn more about porcupines this afternoon!

Open House

What a great night we had tonight for our Open House. Our scholars took great pride in showing off their learning. Thanks to everyone who came tonight. 

Today in math we had a group challenge.  They were given a paper cup and they were told the team that got it to move down the table the most would win.  The challenge was they were not allowed to touch the cup with any objects.  The teams had a planning and testing time.  Then we did a first run.  They learned some strategies from each other and we did a second run.  Then we measured how far the cups went using craft sticks.  I tried to trick them by using different sized craft sticks but they told me right away when you measure you need to use the same sized objects.  So we fixed the problem and found our winner. 

At Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Today the Dual Language students learned about the history of St. Patrick's Day. We also learned some fun facts about leprechauns and watched a video that taught us how to draw a leprechaun. Our morning ended with a design challenge to build a leprechaun trap. Great fun mad learning today. 

Skype with Sea Turtle Inc

Today we got to Skype with Sea Turtle Inc in South Padre Island to learn more about sea turtles. We are beginning an engineering unit where we will be engineering a system to protect beaches from erosion and save the turtle habitats. We are also researching sea turtles in our Language Arts classes.
