Design Challenge

Leaf Rafts

This month, classrooms are challenged to submit their BEST leaf raft design to Mrs. Berumen. Using only the materials listed below, design a sustainable raft that can hold as many marbles as possible! Structures should be no more than 6 inches in length. Designs can be constructed at home and then brought to class for testing.
Approved Materials:
-Leaves
-Twigs
-String
-Elmers Glue

Designs will be tested live on air (KCAN Channel) on Friday, November 13th. The class with the winning design will win a $50 Gift Certificate to the Fall Book Fair!! :)

Reading challenge

Today your child will be bringing home a Six Flags reading challenge.  Their challenge is to read for 6 hours or 360 minutes by Feb. 26th.  If they complete the challenge and turn it in by the due date (Feb. 26) they will receive a free Six Flags ticket!!!  

Report cards

Today is report card day!!!  You can access your child's report card in their google drive on their ipad.
Wow 2nd Grade has some amazing ice cream engineers.  On their first process for ice cream all groups had success.  We all really enjoyed the ice cream we engineered.

Wednesday, October 21st we will join the nation to celebrate UNITY DAY! That’s the day everyone can come together in schools and communities to send on large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are united against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Our engineering ice cream challenge is moving right along.  Today we were testing about different possible sweeteners they could use.  We looked at how the materials interacted with milk during the freezing process.
