Grandparents Day
Cannon Elementary: A GCISD STEM School
Cordially Invites You to Attend
Friday, November 17th, 7:45-10:00 am
Grandparents and other older people are very special in children’s lives – so we are planning
a special a day just for you! Grandparents & Grandfriends Day recognizes the importance
of our heritage, our community, and relationships across generations. On this special day,
we invite you to come to our school, find out what students are learning, and celebrate
with us!
A special request: Our book of the month for November/December is titled, A Fine
Dessert. This delicious story follows four families as they work together to make a
favorite dessert. The cool part is that each family is making the same dessert one
hundred years apart!
Since recipes are steeped in tradition, we would like to invite all of our guests on
Grandparent’s Day to share a favorite family recipe and explain why it is a special
part of your family’s legacy. We have attached a recipe card template that we would
like for you to use to write your favorite recipe on.
During visits in classrooms, teachers will invite grandparents and grandfriends who wish
to speak to do so. We’d love to hear your memories and stories about your recipe!
If you can attend our Grandparents & Grandfriends Day, please complete the attached
RSVP form by Friday, November 10th. You can also RSVP online here:

The school’s address, directions, and parking information are provided on the back of this
sheet. We look forward to seeing you and we thank you for joining us! If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact the school office at 817-251-5680.
THANK YOU!!
