Hello Cannon Kindergarten - 4th grade Parents!
BIG thanks to all of our parents who have already completed the permission form to let us know whether or not you want your child to be able to keep their iPad throughout the summer.  If your child is not returning to Cannon next year or if you do not give permission for your child to keep their iPad for the summer, their devices will be collected at the end of the school year.  If a parent permission form is not completed before the end of the school year, the student will not be allowed to keep their device.  Summer learning activities will be provided to all students and shared with parents next week.  We have some GREAT summer learning ideas planned!  Click here to let us know whether or not you want to give permission for your child to keep their iPad.  Only parents who have not submitted a permission form need to complete this.
Thank you for your support!
Mrs. Blizzard  :)

PTA needs volunteers

Below is the only information I have about the types of items that will be sold.  I don't have the pricing info, but I'm guessing the items will be $1.00?
They will be selling pizza slices, Gatorades, water bottles, ICEE Freeze, pickles and snacks (individual bag of pretzels, animal crackers and goldfish).

  • FIELD DAY FUN! Everyone has been eagerly anticipating Field Day and it's finally time!  Also, please remind your scholars to dress comfortably, wear appropriate shoes, and to bring hats/visors and sunglasses for sun protection. District policy encourages students/parents to apply sunscreen at home, prior to school. However, students are allowed to bring sunscreen (not spray) to school and self-apply if they are able to do so. Teachers may help apply sunscreen if a student requests assistance.
Here are some great ideas to keep your kids reading all summer.  Thank you Mrs. Berumen.

iStation:
Did you know that students can use Istation throughout the summer months to combat Summer Slide? Istation believes a break from school needn’t be a break from learning. These printable brochures for teachers and parents explain how to access Istation at home. Need a brochure in Spanish? You can get one here. Think a video might work better to help inspire summer reading? Our Istation characters Justin Time and Paige Turner put together a short video about using Istation Home during the summer. Please share this video with students and their families:

iPad Summer Use & Summer Boredom Busters For Our Cubs!

Cannon, along with several other GCISD schools, will be allowing K-4 students to keep their iPads throughout the summer. Information about this will be communicated in the principal/parent newsletter, to encourage electronic signatures on the permission form. Parents will have the option to request that their child's iPad remain at school during the summer. We will send home a paper copy with all students whose parents have not responded to the digital permission form later this week. Please help us collect digital permission forms by sharing this link with parents. Student iPads that will be remaining at school will be collected on Wednesday, June 1st.
